Saturday October 30
Hike Leader: Howard Gibson
Going longer distances for challenging hikes is fun. When we do it on Saturday, we have more time to wander around the site and linger at the restaurant, afterwards.
We are headed for the Niagara Peninsula to hike the Bruce Trail through wine country. If you have a Bruce Trail guide, look at Map 4.
This was originally scheduled for October 23. We fiddled the schedule a couple of days later. An advantage of this Saturday is that October 31, we get to stay home and manage trick or treaters.
The hike starts from the town of Jordan.
The parking lot extends from 19th Street to Main Street. On the opposite side of Main Street, you should see the Cave Springs winery. This is a winery hike!
We will try to start the hike at 11:45am. Let's hope it does not rain this time.
We will be hiking up the Twenty Mile river trail to Balls Falls. The Twenty Mile River is twenty miles from something, not twenty miles long.
Something called the Megalomaniac winery is being recommended as worth a visit. We will also do Vineland Estates and Stoney Ridge. Cave Springs Cellars is back at the start point in Jordan. We can do them last.
This hike will be level 2 with some serious hills and stairclimbs. We will try for some decent kilometers, so you need to be in shape. It is Saturday. We can get home late.
There are a couple of reasonably priced pubs in the area, where we can eat afterwards. It is Saturday, so we do not have to get back quickly.
