Pretty River

Date: Sunday September 26

Leader: Andrea Moses

We missed this one due to rain last spring, so we are trying again.

The trailhead is 147 Km from Yonge and York Mills and should take approximately 2 hours to drive to, depending on the traffic in Barrie.

We are meeting at Yonge and York Mills, and we will depart from there at 10:00am sharp.

For those of you with Bruce trail books, we are hiking the section in the top third of Map 23.

Driving instructions to the Parking lot at Pretty River Valley

  1. Take Highway 401 to Highway 400 North.
  2. Drive north on Highway 400 to Barrie.
  3. Take Exit 98 to Bayfield Street in Barrie.
  4. Turn left onto Bayfield Street, drive NW for 5.6 Km and look for the turn onto Highway 26 on the left.
  5. Turn left onto Highway 26 and drive west until you reach Stayner. If you are early, grab a coffee at the Tim Hortons there.
  6. At the lights in Stayner, do not turn right to continue on Highway 26. Instead, go straight through the intersection and continue West on Main Street East until you reach the town of Duntroon (about 8.3 Km). You will be driving along County Road 91.
  7. At the lights in Duntroon turn right onto County Road 124 and drive north for 5.4 Km to Sideroad 33 and 34.
  8. Turn left onto Sideroad 33 and 34 and drive straight west for 5.8 km. Just before the road takes a sharp left turn, there is a gravel parking lot on the left of the road. This is where we are parking, a short walk from the trailhead. If you turn the corner you have gone too far.

We will try to get started at 12:00 noon.
