Rouge Valley

Date:Sunday April 3
Hike Leader:Jacquie Johnson
Distance:10km
Pace:Moderate
Difficulty:Level 1

We will hike around historic hamlet of Cedar Grove for 90 minutes. This is an easy hike as the terrain is mostly flat with two inclines. I will provide a bit of history of the area. The meeting spot is the parking lot for Bob Hunter Memorial Park on 14th Avenue, Markham

Directions

From our meeting point at Yonge and York Mills.

  1. Go up Yonge Street to Highway 401&nbwp;East.
  2. Take Highway 401&nbwp;East to Meadowvale Road north, exit 389.
  3. Take Meadowvale Road north to Old Finch Avenue, and turn left, east.
  4. Go east, and turn right, north, at Reesor Road.
  5. Go north on Reesor Road. It jogs to the east at Steeles Avenue East, so you must turn right and then left.
  6. You will pass the Rouge Valley Mennonite Church on your left. Turn left onto 14th Avenue.
  7. Bob Hunter Memorial Park will be on your left. Park.

Google Maps wants you to drive the last bit across a field. 14th Avenue has to be the better route.

The hike starts at 10:45am.

The parking lot is not visible from the road. There is a sideroad to your left, south, that is not shown by Google maps. Turn right on this road. The parking lot will be on right.
